NEW PROJECT

Acert Africa to launch a new project.

Acert Africa’s mission is to develop and deliver solutions to primary agriculture in the form of a training and development and consultative service.  Focusing mainly on areas affecting social accountability, the intention is to use data gathered during social audits to identify needs in the industry and then to develop workable solutions for these challenges.

The project, Passport to work, aims to do just this.

The project provides accessible induction training for general farm workers within the fresh fruit industry in South Africa.

The format is a DVD containing 4 stand-alone modules covering the following topics:

  • Ethical Trade – The contents and broader concepts of the ETI Base Code.
  • Health and Safety in the farm work place
  • Hygiene and food safety
  • Contracting and policies
This unique project is also designed to empower each individual farm worker through the provision of a “Passport to Work” card which provides proof to other employers that this person has received basic induction training. Provided this training has been conducted within a reasonable time period the employer need not repeat the training.  Each Passport document will carry a unique number which will be linked to a database. Prospective employers are able to access this database and retrieve information about that worker such as when the training was undertaken; who conducted the training and so on. Additional information can also be added to this database such as I.D. numbers and details; driver’s license details and so on.

Initial production in Afrikaans and isiXhosa to be launched in early 2010 !
